Adams County: A Brief History
A county divided. Adams County had its boundaries set out in 1848. The Adams count boundaries originally went westward over the Wisconsin River, including most of what is now Juneau County. The boundary continued to spread westward till 1855. Because of the natural river border, and due to the fact the county seat resided west of the Wisconsin River, this made travel difficult. Slowly, a general feeling of isolation grew. Adams County voters got the chance to vote on naturally dividing the county by the Wisconsin River. Thusly, creating a new Juneau County.
